Rules of participation
This competition is open to all school classes in the last two years of secondary education (before leaving for university) in the 25 Member States of the European Union (as well as Norway and Switzerland).
Each class may submit one proposal only.
Each proposed name should be accompanied by an explanation (maximum 15 lines) written by the class in English (you may, if needed, involve the English teacher of your school: he/she may be part of the winning team!).
The selected name shall fulfil the following criteria:

The selected name shall fulfil the following criteria:
- pertinent,
- international,
- understandable,
- pronounceable in most languages of the European Union,
- original.
Furthermore, special attention shall be given to the fact that the proposed name must not:
- have religious or racial connotations,
- already be protected by existing copyright.
The name of the class, school and teacher, including a full address, phone number and, if possible, an email address when submitting the proposal.

- Only the winning class will be informed of the result by the organisers. The decision of the jury will be announced by the European Commission at the end of December 2006.
- The decision of the jury is final.
- The prize will be awarded in the first quarter of 2007.
- By receiving the prize for the winning name, the awarded class cedes the right to use the name to the European Commission (and its partners involved in GMES) without any restriction of time and place.
